Camphill Communities to Present Two Stunning Summer Exhibitions
Two local Camphill communities are preparing to wow the public in Chester County with their thought-provoking exhibitions this summer.
The Camphill Movement inspires participants to build and maintain communities where individuals with special needs, from children to adults, can safely live, learn, and work with others in healthy social relationships that are based on mutual care and respect.Â
The Camphill Foundation World Wide Weave Exhibition will present 75 wall hangings created using a variety of techniques including weaving, tapestry and felting at the village of Yellow Springs. This extraordinary show will be free and open to public daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from June 1st to July 6th. The opening reception is at Historic Yellow Springs, at 1685 Art School Road in Chester Springs on June 2nd from 6 p.m.
The three Chester County Camphill communities – Camphill Soltane, Camphill Special School, and Camphill Village Kimberton Hills – are participating in this exhibit which expresses all the delightfully varied and diverse characteristics of single communities blended together into one great artistic panorama.
The second exhibition is from Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, which will display its resident’s art at The Henry Gallery at Penn State Great Valley. This unique show uses various mediums and will run from June 8th to August 3rd. It will be free and open to public on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and when the campus is open for evening events.
The opening reception will take place on July 13th starting at 6 p.m. in the second floor gallery of the Penn State Great Valley Conference Center at 30 East Swedesford Road in Malvern.
