A new three-story CubeSmart self-storage facility that everyone in Warrenton, Va., has noticed will get a slight makeover before opening this summer.

The bright red panels reminded local Warrington, VA residents of Legos or perhaps one of the old Circuit City stores.

The owner there has agreed to bend to public opinion and will tone down its bright red accent panels — a striking feature shared by several of CubeSmart’s newer facilities — over the next month, according to a Fauquier Now report by Cassandra Brown.

Once finished, the foreclosed property renovated with $2.8 million will offer 360 climate-controlled indoor storage units managed by Malvern-based self-storage giant CubeSmart.

The Virginia owner, Holiday Partners, has worked with town officials since construction workers unveiled the building’s bold look to neighbors and passers-by in March, and the plan calls for repainting red metal panels gray, adding masonry veneer to a back wall facing a local office building and screening HVAC roof units.
