2416301_origTo celebrate the release of its newest batch of Schuylkill River Trail Ale, the Sly Fox Brewery is organizing a ‘Spreekend’ of trail cleanups and sporting activities from April 22nd to 24th, writes Justin Heinze for the Phoenixville Patch.

The weekend will begin with the first trail cleanup on April 22nd from 5 to 7 p.m. hosted by the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, followed by a Kick-Off Party at the Sly Fox Tastin’ Room in Pottstown.

On April 23rd there will be two more trail cleanup events, one hosted by the Norristown Project at Riverfront Park from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the Thun Trail Section cleanup between 12 and 2 p.m. again hosted by the Schuylkill River Heritage Area.

April 23rd will also see a variety of sporting activities. For kayaking enthusiasts, there will be a group float down the Schuylkill River to Lock 60 in Mont Clare between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Meanwhile, cyclists get to meet up at the Philadelphia Art Museum for a 30 mile ride to the party in Mont Clare. Finally, for runners, there is the 50k Schuylkill River Relay that starts and ends at Saint Michael’s Park from 10 a.m. with everyone who reaches the finish line getting a post race Sly Fox SRT Ale.

All of the weekend’s hard work will be rewarded with a final party at St. Michael’s Park in Mont Clare, where Whiskeyhickon Boys and Hoots and Hellmouth will be in charge of the live music, thirst will be quenched with SRT Ale, and hunger pangs will be satisfied with famous fare from the Sunflower Food Truck.
