After years of service to the community the YMCA in Great Valley is shutting its doors.

Express Y facility to Cease Operations in Great Valley

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine has decided to close its Great Valley site effective June 17th as it has not met its projected growth goals. The facility is being closed with all of the part-time staff and members expected to migrate to one of the other three Y branches.

New Celebrate Victory Support Initiative at Chester County Church

Starting Wednesday, April 6th, a new Community of Care initiative named Celebrate Victory will be available at a Chester County church every weeknight for adults experiencing any type of individual or family life struggles. This free year-round endeavor has been made possible by the Calvary Fellowship’s startup and is following the Celebrate Recovery model, which is the international Christ-center 12-Step ministry created over 25 years ago and led by Pastor Rick Warren, the author of a Purpose Driven Life.

Yellow Springs Farm Produces New Line of Goat Milk Yogurt

Chester Springs’ family farm business Yellow Springs Farm, which already sells artisanal goat cheeses to local restaurants and communities, is now expanding to goat milk yogurt production. The new line will include four different flavors, plain, cinnamon, vanilla and hazelnut, and can be purchased from the farms website and at area grocery stores, including all Kimberton Whole Foods locations and the Whole Foods Markets in Devon, Plymouth Meeting, Glen Mills, and Marlton in New Jersey.

Coatesville’s Water Storage Tank to Be Rehabilitated

Pennsylvania American Water has announced a $6.8 million project to rehabilitate thirteen water storage tanks across the state this year, including the 250,000-gallon elevated tank in Coatesville. The company’s rehab program includes inspecting, sandblasting and repainting the tanks in order to protect the water quality and also to extend the tanks’ service life and provide ongoing fire protection for the community.
