Trains on SEPTA’s Paoli/Thorndale line suspended

Service along the Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail line, one of SEPTA’s busiest, was suspended in the middle of rush hour on Thursday around 5:30 pm. Service was still suspended last night but SEPTA expects that the trains will resume their regular schedule for this morning’s rush hour.

The Paoli/Thorndale line runs on tracks owned by Amtrak and SEPTA is waiting for Amtrak to finish repairs. The power problems that caused the suspension of service appear to have been caused by downed power lines in the Ardmore area, although details have not yet been provided.

Heather Redfern, a SEPTA spokeswoman said that passengers who were already in transit were returned to the nearest station and offered bus rides to their destination. Those who had not yet boarded were encouraged to find other ways home. “During rush hour, it’s probably the worst time for this to happen,” she noted.
