Volunteers Are the Blessing That Keeps Brandywine Health Foundation Giving

By

‘Tis the season of giving, and dedicated volunteers are the cherished gift that keeps the Brandywine Health Foundation giving to local nonprofits throughout the new year.

“I believe that faith without works is empty, so this is a wonderful way to engage with the community and try to do my very small part,” Downingtown native and volunteer BHF Garden Party Chairwoman Kathleen Deets-Price said in the foundation’s latest annual report.

“Having grown up here, I believe the foundation is striving to help the people of our community in so many different ways, and I can’t imagine where we would be without the foundation to guide us through this time.”

Deets-Price plays a critical role in the annual May Garden Party, which this past year raised $102,000.

“When people donate their money, it’s a matter of trust, and everyone’s level of trust with the Brandywine Health Foundation couldn’t be higher,” she said.

The foundation also draws immense volunteer support for its Strawberry Festival and Festive 5K Run & Walk. All together, volunteer fundraising provided the Brandywine Center and nearby nonprofits with more than $250,000 for community health initiatives that support a healthy, safe and vibrant Coatesville area.

“I believe community health is such an important path for wholeness and caring,” board member the Very Rev. Stephen Price added.
