Chester County Boy Scouts are helping local troops both here and abroad kick their combat boots up and relax a little by sending them 1,200 boxes of popcorn.

The Popcorn for Our Troops drive coincided with the Scouts’ own annual popcorn sales fundraiser, teaching them an important lesson in giving back to their community in addition to the fun and life skill lessons in leadership, responsibility, salesmanship, goal setting and more.

Chester County Council, BSA is one of the most successful councils in the country, serving over 6,000 youth and 2,800 adult volunteers annually. The council and its Horseshoe Scout Reservation, comprised of Camps Horseshoe and Ware, have been nationally recognized for leadership training and program excellence.

Scouting helps youth accomplish things they never thought they could, giving them confidence to set new, higher goals, according to the Chester County Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

And now that character-building overflows into bowls around the world.
