Chester County residents sleep better at night than the vast majority of Americans knowing their lives and families are more protected against unseen threats. Chesco recently ranked among an elite tier of counties with the best overall insurance coverage — first in Pennsylvania and the entire East Coast and fourth in the nation as a whole.

“Insurance is the ultimate form of forward thinking; small contributions now save a lot of trouble for you and your loved ones in the future,” SmartAsset stated in explaining its new 2015 rankings, which encompass coverage rates for auto, health and life insurance.

With hard-to-beat coverage rates of 93.69 percent for auto insurance and 92.2 percent for health insurance, Chester County gained its edge over neighboring counties and the rest of the country by posting 62.43 percent coverage for life insurance. In that category alone, only Lancaster County is better covered; but combining all three coverage rates, Lancaster didn’t make the state’s top 10.

Those that did were Montgomery County, second-best in the state and 10th nationwide; Bucks County at No. 3 in Pennsylvania and a top 25 score across America; Delaware County at No. 7; and Berks County at No. 9.

Chester and Montgomery counties were also the only East Coast counties in the national top 10, which was dominated by the Midwest. Lincoln County, S.D., took top honors, followed by two others just to its north: No. 2 Stark County, N.D., and No. 3 Bowman County, N.D.
