Malvern’s Biotelemetry Wins Patent Battle — Again

By

6.29.2015 BioTelemetryA competitor that has twice ripped off Malvern cardiac monitor maker Biotelemetry has been caught once again in court. This time, Florida-based MedTel faces $20,000-per-day fines if it doesn’t hand over all pirated hardware, software, source code and documentation by a looming deadline, according to a report in the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The Oct. 2 verdict is the latest in an ongoing defense strategy that BioTelemetry — originally known as CardioNet — is waging against numerous competitors to protect its $100 million investment in wireless medical technology.

MedTel was previously caught infringing on a CardioNet patent with its Heartrak ECAT system, and the new decision by Eastern District of Pennsylvania Judge Juan R. Sanchez found it in contempt of that 2014 consent judgment.
