Chester County Commissioners and CAPP Look to Coatesville’s Future

The Chester County Board of Commissioners has announced that they are planning to partner with the Coatesville Area Partners for Progress to find a full-time economic development program administrator for CAPP’s Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance initiative.

1.6.2014 Commissioner Terence Farrell 010615“We are committed to continuing to invest wisely in the future success of the City of Coatesville, and this new appointment further demonstrates that commitment,” stated Chester County Commissioners’ Chair Terence Farrell. “We are confident that this partnership with CAPP will significantly contribute to its plan to improve the economic conditions of Coatesville.”

The main goal of CAPP is improve the quality of life in the Coatesville area through the exchange of information, aiding local initiatives, and gaining fundraising support for community projects.  

“This appointment is the culmination of the work of many hands, and we acknowledge City officials and the many organizations that are working diligently to ensure Coatesville’s future is bright. “said CAPP Chair Regina Horton-Lewis.

CAPP’s Coatesville 2nd Century Alliance initiative aims to improve socio-economic conditions in the City by stabilizing its finances, fostering economic development and bringing resources and stakeholders together.

“County funds have been invested in Coatesville for infrastructure, for transportation, for housing, for preservation and recreation, and now, for a full-time professional who will assist in the recruitment of high impact businesses and the expansion of commercial services,” added County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone.

The new program administrator will work as facilitator of activities relating to the revitalization of the City of Coatesville and the opening has been posted on the Chester County’s website in the job opportunities section.  Once the position has been filled, the new program administrator will be located in a Coatesville City office which is equipped and funded by CAPP.

With this move the Commissioners have reinforced their priorities in managing growth and supporting a strong and vibrant economy, and will also help meet the goals of the county’s 10-year economic development strategy, VISTA 2025.

“VISTA 2025 is about balancing economic progress and preservation and one of the ways in which we achieve this is through the development of our urban centers,” said Chester County Commissioner and VISTA 2025 Co-Chair Michelle Kichline. “The investment we’re making today – hiring someone who will solely focus on CAPP’s plan to improve the economy of Coatesville – is another big step in the commercial development of the city.”
