Coatesville Woman, a Recent WCU Grad, Meets with President Biden

Coatesville resident Mitzi Colon, a West Chester University graduate and DACA recipient, met with President Joe Biden to talk about immigration, writes Paola Belloso for FOX43.

For Colon, the meeting was a dream come true.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” she said.

Colon was one of the seven DACA recipients who got to meet with Biden through CASA.

“We got to go introduce ourselves to him, tell our stories, what DACA means to us, and why we need to pass citizenship for all,” she said.

Colon arrived in the U.S. with her family from Mexico when she was three years old. She has lived in Pennsylvania ever since. She applied for DACA when she was a sophomore in high school, which made it possible for her to work and go to college.

“And I actually just graduated from West Chester University,” she said.

During her conversation with the president, she got especially emotional when discussing the topic of citizenship.

“Talking about my family and just family separation, that possibility is always there, that’s when I got emotional,” she said.

Colon plans to begin her career as a paralegal serving her community.
