Chester County Food BankSharpen your knives, because a competition is brewing, and it is all for a good cause. Dish LLC is using its online culinary publication TheTownDish.com to invite Chester County restaurants and any other food related business to participate in a food drive to benefit the less fortunate members of the community, and they are adding a fun competitive element to the event.

The company which is a longtime partner of the Chester County Food Bank in their mission to educate, raise awareness and source donations to aid in feeding the community, is encouraging restaurants to take part in their upcoming Chester County Food Drive.

Chester County is the wealthiest county in Pennsylvania and 24th wealthiest in the U.S., the cost of living is very high, making it very hard for people on a low income to afford enough food. One in fourteen people in Chester County are considered food insecure, without reliable access to an adequate quantity of affordable, nutritious food.

A single parent who works a full-time minimum wage job needs at least 80 hours of work a week to sustainably live in Chester County and requires at least $250 per month to feed their family of two on a tight food budget. This is why the food drive, which will run from September 11 to 19, is critical in helping the less fortunate as it both helps raise awareness and gets valuable donations to feed families in need.

To make things fun and more interesting, a competitive edge is being added to this good-hearted food drive. The restaurant which collects the most food in pounds or raises the largest amount of money for the Food Bank will receive a grand prize. After the final weigh-in and tallies which will take place on September 19, the winner will be announced in front of a live audience at the 2015 Chester County Restaurant Festival.

To participate in the event, restaurants and other food related businesses are invited to visit TheTownDish.com’s instruction page for all the details. All participating restaurants will be showcased on the host’s page, making sure that the visitors know the difference their generosity is making.
