‘Welcome Home Veterans Job Fair’ Coming To Coatesville on September 11th

By

The Coatesville Veterans Affairs Medical Center is partnering with the Pennsylvania CareerLink Chester County to host the Welcome Home Veterans Job Fair on September 11.

The idea behind the fair, that is open to all veterans, is to create an open and relaxed environment where they can meet with area employers and discuss how their skills can be an asset to local companies.

The fair has already received interest from over thirty employers which include, among others, Aramark, Sherwin Williams, Visionworks, Krapf’s Coaches, and the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. All of these potential employers are looking to bolster their ranks from a largely untapped source of exceptionally dedicated and talented employees.

The high number of respondents is not surprising considering that, as stated by Kathleen Pomorski, spokeswoman for the medical center, “Veterans make great employees. They’re known to be skilled and hardworking.”

Attendees will also be able to meet with hiring managers from various VA service areas which include nursing, police, facilities, food and nutrition, and environmental management.  There will also be the opportunity for attendees to learn about potential federal job opportunities as well a chance to gain more information about VA health care and benefits.

VA medical centers nationwide host Welcome Home Celebrations throughout the year in order to help Veterans and connect them with their hard earned VA health care and benefits. Gary W. Devansky, the medical center’s director, said, “As a nation, it is our responsibility to ensure that our veterans have opportunities when they come home.”

The event will take place between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Building 5 in the Great Hall.

To use the event in the most efficient way, the organizers are asking the attendees to bring their resume and professional licenses, certificates or college transcripts, DD-214, and VA Service Connected Disability Award Letter, as well as health insurance and income information, if available.

Veterans who have any questions can call OEF/OIF/OND Program Manager, Audrey Hall, at 610-384-7711 extension 2831. Employers interested in participating should call Work Restoration Program Manager, Sue Wieser on 610-384-7711 extension 5287.
