New Workshop to Help Women Make a Career Comeback

Titled the ‘Launch Your Career Comeback’, the Delaware County Community College will be holding an 11-week workshop at its Marple Campus to help women re-enter the corporate world by helping them to build their employable strengths and skills.

The program not only helps participants get the career advice they need but also teaches valuable information such as effective interviewing techniques, career planning and decision making.

Facilitated by Susan Miller, an experienced career counselor, the workshop starts on 22 September for groups of twelve, at between $125 and $175, depending on the school district. For more information or to register, contact the Career and Counseling Center at 610-359-5324.

5.13.2014 Malvern SavingsMalvern Bancorp Looking to Expand into New Jersey

Paoli-based Malvern Bancorp is looking to increase its client base by expanding into the New Jersey commercial banking market.

To this end it has hired William J. Boylan to head up its commercial lending division in New Jersey. Boylan brings a wealth of experience to the bank having worked as the senior vice president for commercial lending at ConnectOne Bancorp and prior to that at other banks in New Jersey.

The appointment reunites two long-term colleagues, as the 30 year veteran and current Malvern Bancorp President and CEO, Anthony C. Weagley used to work with Boylan at ConnectOne before resigning, after it merged with Center Bancorp in 2014.

It will be a tricky job at the start, as the nearest branch is almost 90 minutes away from New Jersey, but the Malvern bank needs to expand as its profitability continues to increase, growing from $524 million in assets to $624 million during the first nine months of this fiscal year.

bay-colony1-750xx3264-1836-0-306Swedesford Road is the Latest Hot Property in Chester County

Known as the Bay Colony Executive Park, the four building, 247,295 square foot complex situated between 565 and 595 Swedesford Road is the latest property to change hands in Wayne.

The property has been sold to Equus Capital Partners by the Brandywine Realty Trust in a deal valued at $37.5 million, roughly $10 million less that when Brandywine Realty Trust acquired it in 2003, even though according to documents filed with the SEC, it has registered a half million profit on the sale.

This sale comes after KBS Real Estate Investment Trust III completed its purchase of CrossPoint at Valley Forge for $89.5 million just down the road from the Bay Colony Executive Park.

“There’s barely any space available in the Radnor office market” said Jeff Mack, an office broker with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, “and that isn’t expected to change in light of the University of Pennsylvania Health System’ recent buy of BioMed Realty.”

Exton Square Mall Using Crowdfunding to Help Local Teachers

Local teachers are using a new crowdfunding website to kickstart their classroom needs.
Local teachers are using a new crowdfunding website to kickstart their classroom needs.

In a joint campaign with DonorsChoose, the Exton Square Mall launched its ‘Kickstart’ campaign in July, in an effort to help support local schools and their teachers as the Back to School shopping season got underway.

The pilot program, KickStartYourClass.com is a new and innovative way to allow teachers to post classroom projects online and get support from both local, and people nationwide, interested in supporting education.  The mall got the ball rolling with an “Educators Night Out,” that allowed teachers and potential donors to discuss key areas, with special in-store promotions and refreshments.

The next step is to connect all qualifying projects with donors through targeted sponsored social media posts and the distribution of $75,000 in DonorsChoose gift cards.

“Kickstart Your Class is our way of thanking our loyal shoppers and showing the community how much we value our students, teachers and their schools,” says Mary Kay Owen, Exton Square Mall Marketing Director.
