A Phoenixville bank executive and trained magician recently proved there’s no illusion behind the powerful magic of giving. Phoenixville Federal Bank and Trust Senior Vice President and Trust Managing Director Kurt Kunsch was the unexpected recipient of the Chester County Community Foundation’s 2015 Door Opener Award for employing a wholehearted belief in giving toward two donor referrals totaling seven figures, according to a Daily Local News report.

“Kurt made the biggest referrals this year,” CCCF CEO Karen Simmons said in the article. “Kurt’s an interesting choice because he’s much younger than our normal (Door Opener Award winner). Kurt’s pretty young (in his 30s). … He is an incredibly involved community citizen, a Mr. Phoenixville of sorts.”

Kunsch has long fostered the idea of giving back in his client relationships and himself serves the greater good as president of the Phoenixville Area Economic Development Corp., secretary of the Phoenixville Police Athletic League and board member of the Chester County Estate Planning Council.

“Research has shown that the great feelings you experience from helping others may be just as important as exercise and a healthy diet,” he said in the article. “The smile you receive from a child or a thankful person is one of the best feelings in the world. I enjoy making my clients feel great about the impact they can make.”

Kunsch will be publicly recognized at the CCCF’s special Legacy Awards Celebration & Annual Meeting on Nov. 2 in the Madeleine Wing Adler Theater at West Chester University.
