Business leaders in Chester County are looking for ammunition to help local businesses fire off the next round of economic development through a new survey running now through the end of next week.

With the help of local businesses, they intend to identify today’s most critical workforce challenges and opportunities and then develop high-powered, concrete solutions in October during a major, all-day Chester County Workforce Summit.

“Workforce development is economic development and absolutely critical to the economic health of our county,” Chester County Economic Development Council President and CEO Gary Smith said in a joint announcement with the Chester County Commissioners.

The survey is focused on issues facing Chester County businesses as they recruit, train and maintain the skills of their workforce.

The summit will take place Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Penn State Great Valley. It is part of Chester County’s VISTA 2025 initiative, the public-private partnership focused on creating and implementing an economic development strategy under the premise that progress and preservation are complementary elements that will support economic health while maintaining the sense of place that makes Chester County so attractive to residents and businesses.

Take a look at the survey here and submit information by Friday, Sept. 4.
