After the big win with ColdLight which sold to PTC for $105 million, Los Angeles-based venture capital firm Kayne Partners is planning a new wave of investments in Philadelphia based tech companies.

ColdLight’s success, which was recently covered by Vista Today, which prompted Scottie Wardell, the director in charge of Kayne Partners operations in the region, to visit Philadelphia in June. While here, she met with four undisclosed companies that Kayne is considering investing in. This kind of investment approach has benefited other local tech startups like Curalate, Zonoff and RJMetrics

Kayne Partners makes non-controlling investments in new businesses, and is also happy to take more of a backseat role if that’s what the startup wants. “If a company is thriving in Philadelphia Kayne Partners wants them to stay”, Wardell commented, “We’ll come to them.”
