Breaking With Tradition, Wawa Considers Selling Beer at Chadds Ford Location

By

Wawa is in talks to begin selling six packs at their gas outlets.

The only thing flowing right now is talk, but the prevalent convenience store chain Wawa wants to crack open the tap on beer sales at its Pennsylvania locations, starting in Chadds Ford.

06115BeerCompany management is talking to the proper authorities on clearing the trial run, which could bring six-packs of LandShark to the shelves for quick grab and go, according to a report by FOX 29. Wawa already sells beer at its stores in other states, and a public hearing on its Pennsylvania proposal will bring voices from both sides of the aisle to Chadds Ford later this month.

At the center of the debate is a focus on both convenience as well as concern. Beer sales would allow Wawa to better compete with supermarkets, but the move could devastate beer distributors, the report noted.

For customers, the added convenience is a plus in many people’s eyes, but the potential to add to the problem of alcohol abuse and addiction clouds the whole issue for others.
