A. Duie Pyle Leading Innovation in Shipping Industry

By

Businesses tired of orchestrating the logistics of product delivery have a new best friend in West Chester-based A. Duie Pyle, which recently revolutionized its diverse warehouse and distribution services with an innovative, first-of-its-kind all-in-one supply chain solution.

“We believe this is the model for the future,” COO Randy Swart said in a Commercial Carrier Journal feature on industry innovators. “We don’t believe it will work in every market, but in the major cities, it will really be big.”

A new logistics center in New Jersey is at the core of the groundbreaking initiative, which bundles custom dedicated shipping, truckload shipping, brokerage, warehousing and distribution services within a single facility to streamline the process and drive down costs.

“We’ve had LTL (less-than-truckload), truckload and warehousing for years, and we always asked, ‘We want more of our customers’ spend, but how do we do that?’” Swart explained in the article.

The innovation not only cuts out unnecessary costs for both the firm and its customers but is also expected to vastly speed up service time and generate greater flexibility, with same-day or next-day delivery in some cases.

The result is three-fold: added value for customers to bundle their entire supply chain with A. Duie Pyle, added near-term growth in the trucking company’s staffing, and added opportunity to jump into an emerging industry trend, pool freight distribution.

“What we believe is they can fill up a trailer three-quarters full, and on the tail of that trailer, they can load some of their highest-moving product even if it’s not sold yet,” Swart said. “As it goes across the country and is delivered into the Northeast region, we can take the LTL right out for delivery and put the other product in the warehouse if it didn’t sell by the time the freight reached us. When one of our customers calls and says they need the product delivered tomorrow in the Northeast, they actually have some product in our inventory on site and very close to their customers.”
