AmerisourceBergen Finalizes Animal Health Merger

By

The Chesterbrook-based global distributor of pharmaceuticals has wrapped up its pioneering move into the animal health market this week by completing the purchase of more than 10 million tendered shares of MWI Veterinary Supply Inc. common stock, according to a Fort Mill Times report.

AmerisourceBergen first announced the merger in January, and the deal makes MWI a wholly owned subsidiary. Shares were purchased for a price of $190 each.

MWI itself distributes more than 50,000 animal health “pharmaceuticals, vaccines, parasiticides, diagnostics, capital equipment, supplies, veterinary pet food and nutritional products” from nearly 1,000 vendors.
