Between successfully navigating the merger of two New Jersey banks, landing the new top job at Malvern Federal Savings Bank and buoying prospects for the future of the local financial institution, CEO Anthony C. Weagley garnered some serious attention by the banking world.

At the top of the list is a year-end feature in American Banker that names Weagley among its most elite “10 Who Had a Good Year in Banking,” according to a report last week in Main Line Suburban Life.

Among the many bold successes of 2014, Malvern’s new man didn’t rest on his major accomplishments and late-September hiring; rather, “by year end, Weagley ‘had impressed two of Malvern’s activist investors so much that they lowered pressure on the company to sell itself.’”
