Crowdfunding Is A Success At Birchrun Hills Farm

By

Birchrun Hills Farm in Chester Springs will be breaking ground on a cheese cave for its handmade artisan cheese making operation, thanks to $33,507 in funding they raised from 235 backers who pledged between $10 and $2,500 to their crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

The Miller family has run an 80-Holstein dairy farm for the past 25 years and began making artisan cheese a decade ago. Their handmade, raw-milk cheeses, including Birchrun Blue, Red Cat, Fat Cat and Equinox have been well-received by some of the area’s finest restaurants.

The farm outgrew an off-site rental cheese making facility and the Millers realized in order to grow their business, they would need to build a cheese cave to make cheese every day. That will happen this year thanks to a crowdfunding campaign that exceeded their expectations.  Read about their funding success here.
