Watch For Local Pennsylvania Farm Show Winners
The 99th Pennsylvania Farm Show – the largest indoor agriculture event in the nation – is set for Jan. 10-17 at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
Chester County agriculture will likely once again make a respectable showing at the show, which features 300 commercial exhibitors and more than 13,000 competitions.
The Pennsylvania Mushroom Growers Cooperative will be at the Food Court with deep-fried breaded mushrooms, fresh mushrooms, mushroom soup, grilled portabellas, mushroom salad and “schroomies.” This organization gives its proceeds to the American Mushroom Institute, which conducts research and supports mushroom growers throughout the United States.
Beyond the home-grown gourmet Food Court delights, there will be fun for all ages including tractor square dancing, carriage racing, a rodeo, equine shows, FFA displays and grape stomping sponsored by state wineries.
Will there be blue ribbons from Chester County? Most likely. Last year Jenny Huffman of Malvern took first place with her chocolate raspberry upside down brownies, winning $250, in the PA Preferred™ Chocolate Cookie Brownie Bar Contest.
Brooke Mazepink of Parkesburg exhibited the Supreme Champion Ewe, a Cheviot. Kyle MacCauley of Atglen exhibited a Champion Ram.
