Innovative Solutions & Support, Inc. of Exton has received Federal Aviation Administration certification for its Boeing 737 Classic flight management system.

IS&S said the certification means it now offers the most advanced Boeing 737-300/-400/-500 NextGen retrofit, opening a major new worldwide aircraft retrofit market. IS&S can provide legacy air transport aircraft with navigational capability and performance equal to the newest production aircraft.

IS&S has been working toward the certification for several years.  To upgrade two  737-400 aircraft to full CNS/ATM compliance standards IS&S installed new transponders, cockpit printers, ACARS and SATCOM systems and relocated the center console.

The new system supports a worldwide navigational database, enabling aircraft to fly shorter flight paths and optimum idle-thrust descents. This reduces fuel consumption, carbon emissions and noise levels.
