Four Area Hospitals Win State Hospital Association Awards

Aria Health, Main Line Health, Penn Medicine and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital all received significant awards during the Nov. 14 meeting of the Delaware Valley Healthcare Council of the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania.

Main Line Health received The Health Care Improvement Foundation’s top award for their successful efforts to save more lives. Main Line reduced overall mortality by nearly 40 percent. Sepsis-related deaths were reduced by 55 percent.

Penn Medicine received the foundation’s second-place award for an innovative, secured-messaging application that improved care coordination by boosting the ease, speed and efficiency of communications among care teams.

Thomas Jefferson University Hospital received the third-place award for their work to reduce serious adverse drug events each year for the past five years.  The hospital  built a culture of safety, standardized protocols and focused on improving safety measures for high-risk medications.

Aria Health received the Gift of Life Award for excellence in providing compassionate, patient-centered support for patients and families as they work through the decision-making process around organ donation.
