Jerry Poole, president and CEO of Acrometis of Malvern, is now a “Risk Insider,” one in a group of insurance industry thought leaders who regularly contribute to the magazine Risk & Insurance.

Poole’s first contribution is titled “Beware of Emerging Medical Cost Drivers in Workers’ Comp.”

In his piece, Poole points out staying on top of frequently changing treatments across multiple jurisdictions can be challenging for claims operations. One example is surgical implants.

Poole points out training and gaining compliance from claims teams on new cost containment strategies can take time, but claims operations have to take steps to control costs.

Also, Poole says one consequence of the Affordable Care Act is the increased billing pressure applied to the workers’ comp industry.
