DuckDuckGo, the Paoli-based internet search engine said to be one of Google’s smallest and most fierce competitors, will on Sept. 17 be featured in Apple’s iOS 8 as an available search option in Safari, the company’s Internet browser app.

If you use an iOS device, just go to the homepage and tap ‘Use in Safari’ at the bottom for simple directions (after you have upgraded to iOS 8).  The company also has a DuckDuckGo tour to help users learn about the site here.

DuckDuckGo, founded by Gabriel Weinberg in 2008, is gaining international notice for being a search engine that offers real privacy (they don’t track you), quick searches and less clutter due to fewer ads.

The company reports it’s getting more than 4 million searches per day. DuckDuckGo has about 20 employees and the company says it’s now hiring core staff – specifically back end, front end and operations engineers.
