DSM Biomedical Achieves Frost & Sullivan Award Of Excellence

By

Frost and Sullivan has recognized DSM Biomedical of Exton with the 2014 North American Frost and Sullivan Award for Growth Excellence Leadership.

Frost and Sullivan said DSM Biomedical (formerly Kensey Nash) is a total solutions provider that works with customers from start to finish in the medical device development process and – in spite of intense competition – has grown 7 to 10 percent in the past seven years.

The firm, which develops regenerative medicine using proprietary collagen and synthetic polymers, was recognized for its innovation-centric growth policies, close relationships with value chain participants and stellar customer experience.

Among its products, the DSM VitroStealth® antifouling hydrophilic coating is used on medical devices and glucose monitoring biosensors.

Frost and Sullivan said DSM Biomedical has successfully diversified and sustained growth by competing as a coating formulator while positioning itself as a coating applicator. In this process it collaborates with customers to set up coating application equipment at their facilities. Through strong brand recognition and customizable product offering, DSM Biomedical outperforms competitors in the total customer experience.

“The company’s strong growth can be attributed to its strength in hydrophilic and antimicrobial coatings, multifunctional coating portfolio and experience in working with device-makers in developing coating application methods,” said Reuben Sequeira, Frost and Sullivan research analyst.

Sequeira said DSM Biomedical will likely continue to grow through key mergers, acquisitions, partnerships and collaborations and become “the materials collaborator of choice.”

Frost and Sullivan annually presents an award to the company it believes demonstrates excellence in growth and customer value. Two years ago parent company Royal DSM, based in the Netherlands, acquired Kensey Nash, now DSM Biomedical, for $360 million.
