Victory Brewing, Growing Roots Partners Team Up, Offer Farmer Market Discounts

In February, Downingtown based Victory Brewing Company was awarded the 2014 Sustainable Agriculture Business Leadership Award by the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture.

As part of the award, Victory was given a $500 honorarium, which the brewery chose to pass on to Growing Roots Partners, a local non-profit that organizes and host farmer’s markets in Chester County.

To celebrate the 15th Annual National Farmers Market Week (August 3rd- 9th), Growing Root Partners matched the honorarium, and decided to pass along the money to shoppers at three Growing Root Partners farmers markets in Downingtown, Eagleview and Malvern.

Patrons had the chance to win “market dollars,” which were then used to purchase goods at the markets. As a result, the Victory honorarium and Growing Root Partners match wound up in the pockets of local farmers and food artisans.

“Not only was receiving the PASA Award an incredible honor but we are also excited to give back to the local community as a result of the honorarium,” says Victory’s President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “The folks at Growing Roots Partners play such an important role in connecting consumers to farmers and food artisans and we are just happy to support that mission.”

Since first opening their brewery in an abandoned Pepperidge Farm factory in Downingtown, in February 1996, Covaleski and Co-founder and CEO, Ron Barchet, have emphasized environmental responsibility, implementing effective energy generation through the use of solar panels and conservation measures, a philosophy the owners have carried over to their second Chester County brewery in Parkesburg, Pa.
