Genesis Healthcare Plans Renovation Of Former Franciscan Care Center

By

Genesis HealthCare has expanded into Delaware with the acquisition of the Saint Francis Healthcare Franciscan Care Center – now called Brackenville Center – a 104-bed skilled nursing facility in Hockessin, just south of Chester County.

Genesis now owns nine facilities in Delaware.  The Kennett Square-based company is one of the nation’s largest skilled nursing providers with more than 400 skilled nursing centers and senior living residences in 28 states.  The firm plans physical renovations to Brackenville and will place Genesis Physician Services there for oversight of patients and residents.  Genesis also plans to apply for the We Honor Veterans program and add managed care contracts.

Brian Dietz, president and CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare, said Genesis shares with Saint Francis the values of compassion, respect and integrity and that there will be a seamless transition for patients and families.

Saint Francis Healthcare is affiliated with the Saint Francis Foundation and Saint Francis LIFE (Living Independently for Elders), a PACE (Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) model.

“As we strive to fulfill our mission, we are dedicated to meeting the needs of our community,” said Karen Painter, the new administrator of the Brackenville Center.  “Ultimately, we are dedicated to providing individualized care in a welcoming and home-like environment.”

Brackenville Center is at 100 St. Claire Drive, Hockessin and may be reached at 302-234-5420.
