Devon Prep Students Enjoy A Different Kind Of Fun In The Sun

Several Devon Prep students traded in about a week of relaxing summer days for the grueling 2014 Solar Car Challenge in the scorching Texas heat, but in the end they celebrated a third-place trophy and remarkable memories.

“The experiences that we had during the competition were invaluable,” team co-captain Ben Conser (above right) said in a Main Line Suburban Life news article. “We hope that this club continues to grow and thrive in the years to come.”

The team, Devon Panel, endured adversity and nearly 403 miles of road time at the Texas Motor Speedway and during a road race to Austin. Its car, Sol Tide, raced at speeds up to 40 mph and finished just before its solar-powered batteries expired.
