Conestoga has once again defended its status as one of the dozen most-elite public high schools in the nation through the latest Niche.com 2017 Best Public High Schools in America rankings.

Conestoga’s A+ grade ranked it No. 12 in the country and No. 1 in Pennsylvania, based on state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, teacher quality, and other ratings.

Others in Chester County were not far behind. Unionville also garnered an A+ grade that was good enough for eighth-best in the state, and the vast majority of the rest of the county’s high schools earned an A as well.

The other A+ grades went to the following high schools, which are preceded by their overall state rank:

  • 19. Great Valley
  • 26. Downingtown East
  • 33. West Chester Bayard Rustin
  • 42. West Chester Henderson
  • 46. Kennett
  • 48. West Chester East
  • 49. Phoenixville

Earning A grades were No. 60 Owen J. Roberts and No. 91 Downingtown West.

Niche.com gave A- grades to No. 135 Coatesville and No. 149 Avon Grove, while Oxford (No. 224) and Octorara (No. 307) rounded out the rest of Chester County’s grades with a B+ and B, respectively.
