PASiteSearch.com, Pennsylvania’s web-based business location search tool, is recognized as one of the top 10 websites in the nation helping businesses start up, expand and relocate.

The site made the list of the State Rankings of Best Economic Development Site Selection Website Services.

The urban and regional planning/consulting firm Sigala, Inc. ranked PASiteSearch.com seventh out of all nationwide sites in overall excellence, Gov. Tom Corbett’s office announced.

Visit the site and you’ll find it lists the top 50 employers in each county, and you can also search properties, communities and businesses.  There is economic development contact information, and there are lists of available brownfield properties.

The Department of Community and Economic Development and the Team Pennsylvania Foundation launched PASiteSearch.com in 2010 to position the state with a competitive advantage in the corporate site selection process. Built by GIS Planning Inc., the website was the first in the nation to directly integrate critical portions of site selection information through the state’s website in the form of widgets.

This year the Corbett administration also updated the search tools and included business data and heat maps. Businesses looking to expand, relocate or put roots in Pennsylvania can search thousands of shovel-ready sites by demographics, location and assets. The state-of-the-art tool uses a Google Maps interface and provides information on labor force, consumer spending and transportation.

The project is managed by DCED, in partnerships with Team PA, PPL Corporation and PECO.  The governor’s office is singing the praises of the site’s success: “Governor Corbett is building a stronger Pennsylvania where companies are growing and out-of-state businesses are looking to locate,” said Alan Walker, DCED secretary.  “Speed and ease for businesses to access a wealth of information when determining an ideal location is an important factor in today’s fast-paced business world.”
