A nearly $1 million investment is taking Fenceworks from snarled Chadds Ford traffic to an abandoned and overgrown West Chester garden center and tree nursery — through a tangled web of tax liens, deeds, owners and former owners.
In the end, the 10.66-acre, $575,000 site and $400,000 in anticipated improvements to the former Westwood’s Garden Center and Brandywine River Nursery on Route 926 will afford Steve Fanelli, the 25-year veteran fence installer, wholesaler and owner of Fenceworks Co. more than three times the space of his previous location — enough for a showroom and offices, storage platforms for fencing materials, fresh landscaping and maybe even a future grassy meadow that could serve as a township park, according to news published by the Daily Local News.
