Waggy, most recently executive vice president for finance and administration at TruePosition, succeeds Stephen Stuut, who stepped down to pursue other business interests.  Stuut will continue to be a member of TruePosition’s advisory board.

“We are pleased to have Craig lead TruePosition,” Greg Maffei, Liberty Media president and chief executive officer, said in a news release.  “He has been a valuable contributor to the team and his deep knowledge of the industry will be instrumental in taking TruePosition to its next stage of growth.  We want to thank Stephen for his vision during a transition period for the company.”

TruePosition works in public safety and national security, creating custom mobile location solutions for mission-critical situations where lives and safety are at stake and accuracy and reliability are paramount. The company says it has more patents, technical expertise and operational experience in wireless location than any other company in the world and that each day more than 100 million people depend on its location services.

Earlier this year the company acquired Skyhook Wireless, which provides hybrid wireless positioning technology and contextual location intelligence.

Boston-based Skyhook is a global Wi-Fi, Cell and GPS location software provider handling billions of transactions per month.  At the time of the acquisition Stuut said Skyhook’s commercial focus balances TruePosition’s safety and security strengths, and Skyhook’s location technology strengthens TruePosition’s ability to accurately locate mobile phones indoors.
