There is a new winery in town, well in Berks County, PA, to be exact. The Stone Barn Cellars Winery opened over a year ago and is going to be the newest addition to the Berks County Wine Trail “Taste Of… !” event held annually, this year on the 18th and 19th of April. Each time the event has a different twist and this year is no exception, as it is titled “A Taste of Wine & Charcuterie!” or as many are calling it, the “Taste of Meat”, as charcuterie is the French word for meat.

The new winery gets its name from its location, a historic stone barn that owners Ben and Suzanna Morrison have transformed into stunning winery and tasting room. Located just north of Exton, it is nestled in the Wine Trail between Kog Hill Winery and Mantawny Creek Winery. Ben explained how it all got started “We were making wine for many years and after visiting a new winery my wife and I started thinking about it seriously. So we spent a few years looking for a suitable property and finally found our current ten acre farm. We spent the next 13 years renovating the stone barn ourselves.”

Stone Barn Cellars produces a range of different classic wines, such as Merlot and Cabernet and is especially well known for its unique blend titled “Spice of Life Pumpkin Wine”, which tastes like pumpkin pie in a glass. In honor of this year’s theme, each winery will be offering sample plates along with their wines, featuring different local meat products. Stone Barn Cellars Winery is planning to offer a sumptuous Country Pate made from ham and pork wrapped in bacon, served with Dijon mustard and pickled vegetables. This will be paired with samples of Night Owl, their own dry white blend of Cayuga and Vidal, which should accentuate the delicious flavors in the classic French delicatessen staple.
