A new place for coffee, breakfast, and sweet treats has arrived in Berwyn, writes Anne E. Hill for Main Line Today.
Parlor Doughnuts opened on Lancaster Avenue over the weekend, bringing craft doughnuts and specialty coffee to the Main Line, and the locals behind it have been dreaming of this moment for years.
Owner-operators Janet and Garrett Fry, both Berwyn residents, first encountered the concept on a family vacation in St. Augustine, Florida. One taste of Parlor’s signature layered doughnuts, which are known for their flaky, buttery texture, and the couple was hooked. The franchise opportunity followed shortly after when they decided to bring the brand home to Chester County.
“We love living in Berwyn, but we thought that the village was missing a morning spot to grab coffee and a breakfast treat,” said Janet.
The Frys found their home in the former Boot Shop property and renovated with assistance from Eadeh Enterprises. The finished space leans into its historic character, with vintage-inspired details, a wraparound porch, along with indoor and outdoor seating.
The menu’s sweet options include Raspberry Pistachio, Maple Bacon, and Campfire. Savory doughnuts, like OG Pepperoni, Pig & Fig, and Buffalo Chicken, are available from 11 AM until close. It also offers coffee drinks, refreshers, breakfast tacos, sandwiches and toasts, açaí bowls, and even doggie doughnuts. Vegan, gluten-free, and keto-friendly options are available as well.
For the Frys, the goal is about more than great food and coffee. They hope Parlor becomes a gathering place where neighbors can connect and spend time together.
