Chester County commissioner Marian Moskowitz and other county officials recently joined the Litter Lifters of West Vincent for a roadside cleanup in Caln, writes Bill Rettew for The Daily Local News.
On April 1, over 20 volunteers gathered to pick up trash along North Caln Road, a stretch that had never been cleaned before. The team collected an estimated 75 bags of trash and 10 tires.
Litter Lifters organized the cleanup in honor of the upcoming America250 celebrations. Partners for the recent event included PennDOT, Keep PA Beautiful, and the Coatesville VA.
Alongside Moskowitz, volunteers also included Brandy Levine, who serves as assistant to county commissioner Eric Roe. Abbey Swan, assistant manager of Caln Township, also participated in the cleanup.
Founded by resident Beth Intoccia, Litter Lifters of West Vincent is dedicated to properly removing litter throughout Chester County. The April 1 event marked the 13th cleanup this year alone, and the organization’s 99th cleanup overall.
Regarding the recent event, volunteers spoke about how meaningful it is to make a difference in protecting the environment. About the day’s impact, Swan said, “Once you start noticing the litter, it’s impossible to stop seeing it. It’s an easy way to make a visible difference.”
