Berwyn Vintage Market will soon find a new home with the upcoming opening of Gateway Vintage, writes Caroline O’Halloran for SAVVY Main Line.
The market’s previous location at 288 Swedesford Road will soon close after five years in operation. The businesses will then move to 153 Swedesford Road in Wayne, the space previously occupied by Joanne Fabrics.
The new location will host a grand opening throughout Mother’s Day weekend, from 10 AM to 6 PM on May 8, 9, and 10.
Berwyn Vintage Market and Gateway Vintage both fall under the umbrella of Phila Flea Markets, a chain of vintage stores managed by owner Tony Soprano. The chain includes eight locations, with six throughout Philadelphia.
The Berwyn location was Soprano’s first expansion to the suburbs, as Chester County was the first surrounding county to lift indoor shopping bans during the pandemic.
Each store offers a diverse collection of antique home wares, art, vinyls, jewelry, and more. The shop functions similarly to a farmers market, where the owners of the merchandise directly interact with customers to negotiate sale prices.
Following the grand opening next month, Gateway Vintage will be open every weekend to accommodate vendor availability.
