
Chester County Commissioners celebrate the return of the popular Town Tours and Village Walks program, which has been expanded this year in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Now entering its 32nd season, the 2026 Town Tours & Village Walks will kick off at the Chester County Historic Courthouse on Thursday, April 30, and conclude on Oct. 15.
This year’s theme, “13 Tours for 13 Colonies,” will focus on the places, people, and events in Chester County that molded and defined the complex tapestry of history that shaped our nation. In addition to the thirteen tours, there will be three Armchair Lectures. All are open to the public and free to attend.
The 2026 program includes the following tours and lectures:
- April 30: Kick-off & Walking Tour — Chester County Historic Courthouse
- May 7: Lecture — Pennsylvania Ironmasters and the Revolution
- May 14: Walking Tour — Spring-Ford Area Historical Society
- May 21: Walking Tour — Woven in History: A Textile Collection at Hibernia Mansion
- June 4: Walking Tour — Women & Minorities in Malvern
- June 11: Walking Tour — Barnard Station
- June 18: Walking Tour — Caln Township Historical Commission: 300th Anniversary of the Old Quaker Meetinghouse
- July 16: Walking Tour — Radley Run Mansion House: A Journey Through Time
- July 23: Lecture — When the Declaration of Independence was News
- Aug. 6: Walking Tour — Primitive Hall, Ancestral Home of the Pennock Family
- Aug. 20: Walking Tour — Historic Yellow Springs
- Sept. 17: Walking Tour — Oxford Area Historical Association
- Sept. 24: Walking Tour — The Mill at Anselma
- Oct. 1: Walking Tour — A Hotbed of Social Reform in Kennett Square
- Oct. 8: Walking Tour — Adaptive Reuse in Caln Township: Where the Past Meets the Future in the Heart of Chester County
- Oct. 15: Lecture — Historic Yellow Springs
The tours and lectures will last about 50 minutes. Tours begin at 5:30 PM, with the last one leaving at 7 PM. Lectures begin at 5:30 PM, followed by a Q&A. Preregistration is not required.
