Offering farm-fresh groceries alongside other handmade items, Chester County farmers markets are a community staple all year long, write Claire Chmiel, Anne E. Hill, and Ben Silver for Main Line Today.
Here are four local farmers markets where you can find fresh grocery items this spring.
Berwyn Farmers Market—Berwyn. One of Chester County’s newer markets, the Berwyn Farmers Market features over two dozen vendors. Products include fresh fruit, produce, and pantry items in addition to exciting raffle baskets. The market is open the second and fourth Sunday of each month from January through April, and every Sunday from May to December.
Downingtown Farmers Market—Downingtown. This local market features a diverse range of vendors, including Barking Dog Farm, Phoenixville Honey, and Vesta Kitchen. The market posts the list of participating vendors on the Monday before market week. Upcoming summer hours are TBD.
Lancaster County Farmers Market—Wayne. Open year-round on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, this indoor market has housed dozens of vendors for over 80 years. Find local meats, cheeses, flowers, homewares and more from specialty vendors throughout the region.
Phoenixville Farmers Market—Phoenixville. Open on Saturdays throughout the year, this Phoenixville market offers fresh fruits, vegetables, breads, and more, all set along the scenic French Creek Trail. The market opens at 10 AM December through March and at 9 AM from April to November.
