Chester County ranks highest in the Philadelphia region in a new study of the best and worst budgeters in the United States, writes Adam McCann for WalletHub.
WalletHub study’s evaluated counties based on Savings & Financial Assets and Debt & Delinquencies, measuring factors like the percentage of underbanked households, asset poverty, bankruptcy, and foreclosure rates to rank the best and worst budgeters. The higher the percentile, the better the budgeter.
Chester County came out on top in the region, scoring in the 93rd percentile nationwide with a total score of 71.38. The county ranked No. 57 in Savings & Financial Assets and No. 1,562 in Debt & Delinquencies.
Bucks County follows just behind, securing the 92nd percentile nationwide with a total score of 71.18, ranking No. 47 in Savings & Financial Assets and No. 1,679 in Debt & Delinquencies.
Montgomery County lands in the 84th percentile, earning a total score of 68.82. It placed No. 89 in Savings & Financial Assets and No. 1,989 in Debt & Delinquencies.
Delaware County ranks in the 45th percentile with a total score of 61.24, with Philadelphia County trailing at the 7th percentile nationwide, with a total score of just 44.31.
