Traditional Marketing Metamorphoses Into Brand Growth Through This Chesterbrook Collective

Kristen Hogan, left, and Rachel Smith founded Chesterbrook's Monark & Co.

Business partners and moms Kristen Hogan and Rachel Smith saw a gap in traditional marketing company and made it their mission to fill it, creating the collective Monark & Co. in Chesterbrook, writes Anne E. Hill for Main Line Today.

As two working moms with backgrounds in retail and e-commerce sectors such as lifestyle, beauty, wellness, and fashion, Monark & Co. was the perfect transition into marketing support where they could have both work-life balance and solve growth strategies for their clients.

“We’ve both worked in-house at organizations where marketing leaders were expected to deliver meaningful growth but didn’t always have the right support structure,” said Smith. “Monark was built to solve that problem—to fill the gaps, giving companies access to senior-level strategists and junior-level executors without the constraints of traditional agency models.”

As a collective, the company thrives using the strengths of experienced leaders, primarily women, to partner with established and upcoming brands. Monark is meant to be a different approach than typical advertising agencies as the team affirms the belief that women can still keep high-performance careers and maintain family life.

Leaders at Monark work across all industries, from merchandising and branding to e-commerce and consulting, in order to make the best impact in the field and stay flexible.

Current clients range from the local to national scale, including Berwyn-based equestrian jewelry brand Ela Jae.
