Two Beloved Kennett Square Events Set to Return Following Borough Council Vote

Following Monday's borough council vote, two popular Kennett Square events, including the beloved mushroom festival, will return this summer.

Two beloved Kennett Square events are set to return this summer following a vote by the Kennett borough council, writes Jen Samuel for The Daily Local News.

The council approved the return of the Kennett Flash Summer Rooftop Concert Series and the fan-favorite Kennett Square Mushroom Festival in a vote this past Monday.

The Kennett Flash Summer Rooftop Concert Series will return beginning June 20. Musicians and bands will appear on the fourth floor of the Kennett Square Parking Garage for an auditorium-style concert series every Saturday.

Kennett Flash began in 2009, and was later established as a nonprofit listening room in 2013. The outdoor concerts began in 2021 as a way to enjoy live music while safely outside and socially distanced.

The tradition has since become wildly popular amongst concert-goers, with music performances ranging from rock to modern tunes to tribute bands.

Following the concert series, one of Chester County’s most anticipated traditions will also return: the 41st annual Kennett Square Mushroom Festival will run from Sept. 11-13 in downtown Kennett.

The annual festival will feature a one-mile street fair complete with all things mushroom, from food to retail shopping to children’s games. Find mushroom cuisine, handmade goods, food trucks, vendors, and more, all with a percentage of proceeds going towards local nonprofits and community services.
