Pennsylvania sets the bar high for many residents and visitors who come through the doors. With beautiful views, friendly faces, and a scroll of restaurant choices and things to do, who wouldn’t want to retire here? These Chester County towns are on the top of the list for places to live in retirement, reports World Atlas.
There are plenty of things to consider when winding down after working for decades. Everything from healthcare availability and where to exercise, to socializing and affordability comes into play.
West Chester is not only one of the best places to live in general, but also a great choice for folks looking to have it all in retirement. The town is bursting with culture that mixes small town charm and city-like amenities.
Gay Street has a variety of shops to explore and places to eat, giving you endless options for all meals of the day. The borough is extremely walkable, giving you the chance to admire 18th- and 19th-century architecture. Plus, Everhart Park is just one of the few parks scattered around the area to further enjoy the outdoors.
It’s also home to Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital, consistently recognized as one of the best hospitals.
Unsurprisingly, the Mushroom Capital of the World, also known as Kennett Square, is another town to consider for retirement. When not thinking mushrooms, Longwood Gardens is a gorgeous option to admire the beauty of the township and get your steps in.
Steeped in history like much of Chester County, Kennett is on the National Register of Historic Places. Strolling along State Street provides views of small businesses, restaurants such as La Verona and Talula’s Table, and a growing collection of stunning murals.
For healthcare, Chester County Hospital’s Kennett Medical Campus is right nearby.
