A printing error on some of Chester County’s annual mail ballot applications reversed voters’ first and last names, but officials say this will not impact processing, writes Brooke Schultz for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
“This printing error will not affect the processing of the form,” posted the county’s voter services department on its website. “Whether voters choose to submit their application online or using the paper form, all applications will be processed accordingly.”
Counties across the state have begun sending reminders to voters who requested a mail-in ballot. Chester County was first notified of the error on Feb. 4, after the applications were mailed earlier that week.
County officials immediately contacted the Pennsylvania Department of State.
“We agree with county officials that there is no need to reissue the applications,” said a spokesperson for the agency, referring to the voter services statement.
It still remains uncertain how many applications were impacted by the error.
During the last November election, more than 52,000 Chester County voters submitted their ballots by mail.
