Six years ago, Eagles fan and Bucks County resident Tom Trampe went viral online for a clip in which he offered to suit up for the Philadelphia football team.
Recently, Trampe, also known as “Chomp,” was diagnosed with leukemia and had to undergo emergency brain surgery, writes Dino Ciliberti for Patch.
Doctors had noted that his chances of survival were not high, but Trampe’s fighting spirit has allowed him to defy the odds.
To provide support to Trampe and his family, Warminster residents Kenneth and Kate Coffman created a GoFundMe.
Already, the fundraiser has raised over $128,000 toward its goal of $150,000.
A sizeable $8,000 donation came from none other than former Philadelphia Eagle and ESPN personality Jason Kelce.
“This fundraiser is to help relieve some of that financial burden so the family can focus fully on what matters most: Tom’s recovery and precious time together as a family,” said the Coffmans. “Every donation—no matter the amount—will go directly towards medical expenses, household bills, and helping keep stability for their young children during this incredibly difficult season.”
Warwick Farm Brewery is offering its support as well. With every purchased pint and four-pack of their new beer, “2 Year Varsity,” $2 will be donated to the family.
