Chester County recorded some of the heaviest snowfall in the region, forcing schools to close on Monday and delaying trash collection, writes Brooke Schultz for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Some parts of the county had more than a foot of snow, including East Nantmeal, where 12.8 inches blanketed the township Monday morning. Malvern followed closely with 12.5 inches, while East Goshen recorded the lowest total in Chester County at about 8 inches.
By Sunday evening, most of the region got between six and 12 inches of snow.
Because all of the school district buildings were closed in the county on Monday, some districts adopted flexible remote learning schedules, while others opted instead for a traditional snow day.
“Students are officially expected to enjoy this winter wonderland – and take a well-deserved breather at the midpoint of our school year,” wrote Kennett Consolidated School District.
Municipal meetings are being postponed to later dates, and municipalities are urging no street parking, with some even offering free parking in borough lots or garages.
Because of the snow, trash and recycling collection across the county has been rescheduled, with most towns shifting to either Wednesday or Saturday.
