New York Developer Plans 620-Unit Apartment Tower Along Delaware River

Brevet Capital Management is planning to construct a 36-story apartment tower along the Delaware River, a project called Wharton Piers.

Brevet Capital is planning a 36-story apartment tower along the Delaware River in Philadelphia, writes Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The New York developer submitted plans to the Philadelphia Civic Design Review Committee to construct a 620-unit, 383-foot-tall tower at 1341 S. Christopher Columbus Boulevard, including 10,150 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Construction is expected to start in the fourth quarter of next year and be completed by early 2029.

The development will have a 187-space parking garage across the second to fourth floors, with the fifth floor dedicated to amenities, including a lounge and outdoor pool. Apartments would span floors six through 36, with 20 units per floor. Brevet Capital also wants to build a 20,650-square-foot retail building adjacent to the tower.

The single-story building aims “to bring much needed retail to the area and create a neighborhood feel with necessary social amenities for the residents as well as the community,” said the Brevent spokesperson.

The developer will also make upgrades to the Delaware River Trail as part of its plans.

The project’s revised design by architect Perkins Eastman has been named Wharton Piers.
