Summer camp can be an excellent opportunity for both education and outdoor engagement this summer, writes Emily Kovach for PA Eats.
Offering community connection and nature-based engagement, farm camps can provide an especially enriching experience for both children and teenagers. Here are two Chester County farm camps offering outdoor camp programs for 2025.
Milky Way Farm—Chester Springs. A longtime community staple, Milky Way Farm offers day camps and classes for preschoolers through sixth graders.
Camp curricula are developed by a former teacher with a master’s degree in education to curate camp offerings according to age group. Activities include butter and ice cream making, learning about farm animals, nature walks, craft making, and more.
The Barn at Spring Brook Farm—West Chester. A nonprofit organization that prioritizes accessibility for campers with disabilities, Spring Brook Farm offers Camp Geronimo, which runs Mondays to Fridays from 9 AM to 2 PM.
Camp Geronimo is available to campers aged six through twelve and offers a 1-to-1 counselor-to-camper ratio, with wheelchair accessibility ensured for all activities. Camp activities include caring for flower and vegetable beds, feeding and caring for farm animals, arts and crafts, sports, and more.
